3837. Francis

Francis is a ladybug on the Disney animated feature film A Bug's Life. He is a Drag Queen in the circus, but unfortunately the effect is so convincing that people are always mistaking him for a real girl. Francis is a clown in P.T. Flea's circus - but he's very short-tempered and aggressive, and it doesn't help that he's constantly being mistaken for a girl just because he's a ladybug. He is great friends with Slim and Heimlich, who try to keep him calm. He also carries Slim when the circus troupe fly. In his first appearance, Francis plays a pretty flower in the clown act. But when two flies hoot and try to flirt with him, he is instantly enraged, getting into a huge argument. Slim tries to calm him down but it fails and he has to be dragged off stage. Soon after being fired, it is his prior argument with the Fly Brothers that escalates into a bar brawl, that fools Flik into believing the troupe is a travelling band of warriors, and also results in the troupe taking the job without much consideration. On Ant Island, when the troupe realise they are expected to fight grasshoppers, Francis passes out at the end of the young ants' play. However when they are leaving, Dot tries to follow, but falls from a dandelion seed, and Francis catches her. Unfortunately he is badly hurt in the rescue, cumulating in a broken leg, and hampering the entire troupe's travel, essentially resulting in them staying. Later, while the rest of the troupe helps to build the bird, Francis helps by taking care of a group of young ants, teaching them games and amusing them. Throughout the movie most of the ants mistake him for a girl, but after losing his temper a couple of times, he stops minding so much, finding his motherly side.
